art6: a conduit for art experiences, expression and education

Membership

Current members may nominate other artists to join art6. Membership is also available to those who have participated in an art6 event or performance. If you are interested in becoming a member, please fill out the membership application form.

We created our organization in 2004 and are currently in the midst of a reorganization and revitalizing process to better promote and nurture Richmond's emerging arts scene. We offer monthly curated visual arts exhibitions, a Biennial Members Show, a Biennial Juried High School Art Exhibition, music and dance performances, poetry readings, and lectures. We have a gallery shop where you have the opportunity to sell your work. More intangibly, we offer a welcoming space for conviviality among creative people with similar goals and interests.

Our members show and perform their work at art6 and actively engage in all phases of gallery life, including participating in the monthly meetings where decisions are made, joining committees and serving as officers, and staffing the gallery during operating hours and special events. Our dues are very reasonable.

Volunteer membership

art6 gallery also has a volunteer membership category for those members of the community who would like to support our efforts in downtown Richmond. Community members can help art6 by staffing the gallery during regular hours or performances, helping out at First Friday, and assisting with the numerous tasks involved in running an art gallery, including publicity and mailings.

Although they are not required to pay dues, community volunteers may attend all membership and committee meetings and have a voice at these meetings. However, they do not get to vote and may not participate in member exhibitions.

If you are interested in becomming a community member, please fill out the community volunteer membership application form.
